Background

Dongrun-Yau Science Award (Biology)

Biology is a branch of natural science, with emphasis on the structures, functions as well as the formation and development laws of organisms. The solutions to significant problems in the social development of human beings, to a large extent, rely on the progress and development of life science and biotechnology.

Purposes

  • Stimulate students’ interest in Biological research among high school students
  • Encourage innovation in Biological thinking among high school students
  • Cultivate young Biology talents
  • Encourage articulation between high school teachers and university professors

The Dongrun-Yau Science Award (Biology) this time has attracted 174 competing teams, of which 70 are from the north, another 103 from the south and 1 from overseas. A total of 54 effective papers have been submitted from 25 schools in 13 provinces and municipalities of the country. After rounds of reviewing by expert groups and online public presentation, 14 teams have been qualified for the final contest for the Dongrun-Yau Science Award (Biology) (2016).
